To me, a Bar Amusement can be anything that brings a smile to someone's face. It can be a joke or a riddle, even a puzzle or a magic trick. Bar Tricks can be performed with on-hand items found around any bar; bottles, glasses, money, people, matches, cigars, napkins, pool tables, etc. Not only are they for Bartenders & Servers, they can also be used to break the ice, astound your friends, liven a party, or even to entertain children. After all, kids and drinking adults are just about the same!

THE CHERRY & SNIFTER TRICK!

This is usually the first Trick that a new Bartender learns. It's very simple, and all bars should have the items to do it. You'll need a brandy snifter, a stem less cherry (rinsed and dried), and an ashtray . Place the snifter upside-down over the cherry. Challenge a bar guest to get the cherry into the ashtray without touching the ashtray or the cherry. The only thing they can touch is the snifter, and the only thing the cherry can touch is the snifter. The snifter must remain inverted at all times. (Mashing the cherry on the rim is not permitted.) Note: You can use a olive instead of the cherry, and to add more Difficulty to the Trick you can use a glass of any kind instead of an ashtray, and or use obstacles that the Cherry has to go over. It's fun and easy give it a try.

Here's how its done: Simple take the snifter glass place over the cherry and begin spining it. The sentrifical force will keep the cherry in the glass. Look below

BILL AND BEER BOTTLE TRICK!

Here's another easy Trick to perform . Turn an empty bottle (preferably longneck beer bottle) upside down on top of any bill. The challenge is to get the bill out from underneath the bottle without knocking over the bottle. You cannot touch the bottle, and it must remain inverted at all times.

Here's how its done: Roll up the bill until it pushes off the bottle. Hint: The first thing people will think of is to pull the bill quickly out from underneath the bottle. This will work on slick surfaces, unless you make sure the bill gets a little wet where it meets the bottle. The last few drops of beer left in the bottle will prevent this from happening. Give it a try, it's very easy.

MIND READER

Here's a easy Psychic Trick to perform. Take three dice give them to somebody and have them drop the dice into a glass of water. (Make sure to see what numbers that are showing on top), tell the person that you are psychic, lift the glass over your head with your eyes closed, then set the glass back down. Tell the person to look at the Dice and think about the number showing Then stick your fingers in the water to get them wet, rub them on your forehead, and after a little concentration, announce the total number on the bottom of the dice. Amazingly you will be right every time.

Here's how it's done: Dice have this seven thing going on. All you have to do is add up the total of the numbers on top of the dice and subtract that number from 21 to know what the bottom total is. Works Great because nobody but you knows the 21 rule. Go blow peoples minds with this one!

MAGIC SAUCER AND GLASS TRICK!

Take a lighter, four match sticks, a small saucer, a lemon wedge, and a rocks glass. Put water in the saucer and tell your guest at the bar that you can put all the water in the glass without touching the saucer, just using the items mentioned above.

Here's how its done: Stick the 4 matches into the sides of the lemon wedge, with the matches pointing up. Put the lemon, peel down, on the saucer. Light the matches and place the glass over the lemon. The lack of oxygen will extinguish the flames and suck the water into the glass. This Trick is cool to do, great effect

BEER BALANCE

Challenge one of your bar guest. ( try to get someone who really thinks there Strong and Athletic ) To balance a full pint of beer on the back of each hand!

Here's how its done: Tell your Victim to rest his hands on the table. When he places his hands face down onto the table you carefully place a pint of beer on the back of each hand for him. When you are sure the pints of beer are secure on the backs of his hands you can tell him to start to balance the pints of beer. In almost every case your victim will be hand cuffed to the table! Why because once those drinks are in place HE CAN'T MOVE! This will get some good laughs! Try it!

THE BOTTLE ROCKET TRICK!

Get an empty bottle of Stoly Vodka . Using hot water, warm the outside bottom of the bottle -- making sure not to get any water in it. Take a straw & insert a toothpick into it about 1" down from the top (making it look like a giant " t "). Now, put the long end of the straw into the bottle. Ask a bar guest if they can remove the straw without touching the bottle or the straw with any part of the body, and without using an object to knock over the bottle or pull out the straw.

Here's how its done: Light a match, drop it in and stand clear. ( Make sure not to have the straw facing anybody ) You'll be amazed! The effect should be: The straw shooting out of the bottle about 20' in the air. PLEASE USE CAUTION with this trick. You don't want to injure anybody!

DRY MARTINI

DRY MARTINI: This is a Great Trick to pull on a Martini Drinker. Prepare a mixing cup will a sponge glued to the bottom of it. When someone orders a Dry Martini pour the shot into the prepared mixing cup and then stain into a Martini Glass. Result: Nothing comes out.

Here's how its done: The sponge absorbers the shot. Talk about a Dry Martini

MAGIC TONIC WATER

MAGIC TONIC WATER: This is a Great Trick to pull on an a bar guest. All you need is 5 to 7 bottle caps, a quarter, and a helper. Line up the 5 to 7 caps on the bar in a row and tell your quest to place the quarter under one of the caps with out you looking so you don't now where it is. Tell them that you can tell witch cap the quarter is under by using a little tonic water. Grab a glass, put some tonic water in it, then put your fingers in the water and rub your fingers over the bottles caps one at a time.

Here's how its done: Have your helper, either another bartender or a regular that's in the all the time, watch where the quarter is placed. Have your helper give you some type of signal when your fingers are over the top of the cap with the quarter underneath. At that time you say that the tonic water is starting to tingle and lift the cap. Like magic you have used the tonic water to find the quarter. If done right this will blow people away!

MAGIC STRAWS

MAGIC STRAWS: This is a Great Trick to pull on an a bar guest. All you need is 5 different objects, and a helper. First place 5 different objects, (you could use fruit, bottle tops, matches, coin money, etc it doesn't matter as long as the 5 objects are all different) in front of a bar guest so the objects make an appearance of a 5 on a dice :-: . Tell them to point to an object when you are not looking, but to let other people see so they can verify it. Then take 2 straws, hold one in each hand so that the straws are parallel and hold them over the objects that you have set on the bar. When you come to the Object that was picked, just move the straws so that they touch. Then tell everyone that the Magic Straws have chosen this to be the Object that was chosen! It works every time and blows peoples minds.

Here is how it is done: Since the objects are placed in a certain order ( like a 5 on a dice :-: ) just have your helper place there drink on there cocktail napkin in the position of the object that was picked . Example: If the person picking the object picks the object in the middle your helper puts his drink in the center of there napkin, if they pick an idem on one of the edges your helper puts there drink on the corresponding edge. Just look to see where your helper sets there glass so you know what object was picked. If done right this will blow people away!

THE MAGIC PALM TRICK

Take a Snifter glass and fill it with Sambuca. Ask a guest at the bar if they could pick up the glass just using your palm of one hand ( no fingers ).

Here's how its done: Take a match and light the Sambuca on fire, then place the palm of your hand over the snifter. The fire will use up all of the oxygen and create a large suction so you can pick up the glass and wave it around in the air.

THE WATER IN THE SHOT GLASS TRICK

You have 2 shot glasses one on the bottom and the other upside-down on
top of the other, (and they both have to be full of water) the object is
to get the water out of the top shot glass without disturbing the glass
AT ALL!! That means no touching, poking, or knocking it over!! WITH
ANYTHING!

Here's how its done: So before you tell anyone how its done, you make them wait a little while and drive them up the wall. first of all make sure the shot glasses are off centered just a very little bit, then you take 2 of the small bar straws and blow in between the glasses without TOUCHING them, and that will push the air through and empty the top shot glass without touching or putting them out of place at all! Just be careful because sometimes hard to break the seal of the glasses!

EGG FLOAT

Take a Glass of water and drop an egg into it. After the egg sinks to the bottom of the glass ask a bar quest if they can make the egg float.

Here's how its done: Just and salt to the water and stir. The water becomes more dense and the egg floats.

THE RE-ARRANGE THE GLASS TRICK

Place 5 shot glasses down in the following order from left to right - empty glass upturned, full glass, full glass, full glass, empty glass upturned.
Now ask a Bar guest to re-arrange just one glass in one move to make a pattern where the glasses either go full, empty, full, empty, etc OR empty, full, empty, full, etc!

Here's how its done: Simply pick up the middle glass and down it. Then place it back in the center upturned!
This works because people try to get it so that the 3 full glasses are in the middle and at the 2 ends - This WONT work! The only way to do it is to drink the middle glass!

HOW TO MAKE A MATCH ALWAYS LAND ON ITS SIDE

Take a match from a book of cardboard matches. Print H (heads) on one side and T (tails) on the other. Tell a bar guest that you will toss the match in the air and if it lands either heads or tails you will buy him a drink. However, should it land on its side, he must leave you a big tip.

Here's how its done: Just before you toss the match in the air, bend it. It will always land on it's side and you will always get a big tip.

DRINK A SHOT FROM AN UNOPENED BOTTLE

Tell a bar guest that you can drink a shot from an unopened bottle of B & B!

Here's how its done: Simply turn your bottle of B & B upside down and pour a shot into the bottom of the bottle, and drink it. You have fulfilled your end of the bargain - you have taken a shot directly from the unopened bottle.

THE SWITCH-A-ROO TRICK

Take 2 small shot glasses and fill one 1/2 way with Kahlua and the other 1/2 way with milk. Ask a guest to put the contents of one glass into the other and vice versa without pouring any out ( or putting one in their mouth), they may however use their drivers license.

Here's how its done: Place the license over the top of the Kahlua and turn upside down and on the milk without spilling and then remove slightly to allow the milk to gradually fill the Kahlua glass. The Kahlua is heavier and will sink to the bottom allowing you to carefully pour the milk into the other glass.

DO AS I DO

Take two shot glasses and and six or eight sip straws (an even #). Give one shot glass and half of the straws to the guest. Tell them if they can do everything you do, you'll buy them the shot, if not, then they must double your tip. Arrange your straws any way you'd like and pour two shots of their choice. One for you and one for them of course. Start arranging the straws however you would like with your guest following suite. At some point, take your shot but leave the liquor in your mouth. Your guest will take the shot. Then arrange the straws again just for good measu

Here's how its done: when your ready, spit the shot back into the glass. Never have I seen someone not drink the shot. Your tip is doubled.

MAGIC EGG

Place two BIG sherry glasses near each other and put an egg in the one nearest to the customer. Tell the customer to move the egg from one to the other without touching the egg or the glasses.

Here's how its done: Blow hard into the glass with the egg and it will "flip" into the other glass... Honest! (Practice to estimate the correct distance with a hard boiled egg )

THE BEER CHUG TRICK

This trick is for people who like funneling beers.

Let a friend drink half of his/her beer, then bet him/her that you can chug your FULL beer before he/she can finish hers.

Here's how its done: Take a bendy straw and place it into the bottle with the bent part out of the bottle. The other 2/3rds of the straw should be in the bottle. Chug beer. Air escapes through the straw allowing very quick consumption
